Duplex Apartment – Real-Time ArchViz with Foster + Partners

Problem :
Architectural firms often rely on static renders or walkthrough videos to present residential designs, which fail to capture lighting behavior, scale, and fine interior details interactively. Foster + Partners sought a real-time, spatially accurate experience to better communicate the spatial quality and material mood of a modern duplex layout.



Solution :
We built a real-time interactive visualization in Unreal Engine 5, featuring dynamic camera paths, cinematic lighting, and true-scale interiors. The duplex includes lounge zones, kitchen, staircases, and outdoor-facing elements—rendered with physically based materials and rich ambient lighting. Users could freely navigate, pause at focus points, and experience the spatial depth across multiple rooms.



Challenge :
The project required balancing visual richness with real-time performance. We used Nanite and Lumen workflows, with heavy optimization on texture streaming and lighting. Careful composition and framing were used to reflect Foster + Partners’ minimalist but warm design sensibilities while ensuring client approval in short iteration cycles.



Summary :
This duplex visualization demonstrated how Unreal Engine can elevate architectural storytelling. It provided Foster + Partners with a powerful tool for internal review and client presentations, giving life to architectural intentions beyond paper and renders. The result was a refined and immersive architectural experience.
